Happiness ...

Happiness was different in childhood. It was so much then a matter simply of accumulation, of taking things - new experiences, new emotions - and applying them like so many polished tiles to what would someday be the marvellously finished pavilion of the self...

Sheffield ...

We made the journey to Sheffield and have met Rafi! We both like him and hope he and Kate will make a good life for themselves here.

PC problems

Had to call Alex from Computer Resources to try to rescue my screensaver function but he couldn't resolve the problem. Have managed to switch it on manually and this will have to do for now. The alternative is to uninstall everything and start again, which might not even sort it out then and is a bit drastic. I'm lucky to be able to call on Alex - the idea of going back to Dell service for help is out of the question - it is so stressful trying to get their people in India to understand the problem and their solution is usually to PC Restore!

Packed about 4 boxes of stuff for Kate and Rafi as well as the breadmaker, a toaster and a video recorder. Chris is driving us to see them next Friday - hope it will all fit in the car!

It's all happening

All three of my children are in the throes of changing their lifestyles:

Chris, the eldest may be separating from his partner of 25 years and is going for an interview for a new job in September.

Jeff, my second son, is setting up home halfway up a mountain in Wales with his new girlfriend, Aloma and seems be the happiest I've known him since he was a little boy.

Kate, my daughter went to India for a holiday and to cut a long story short, she married Rafi whilst she was there and they have now come back to the UK and are in the process of setting up home together and trying to find him a job and get him educated. I am looking forward to meeting him soon.
